Job Type:            Full-time - Contract / Seasonal

 

Reports To:        Field Planning Manager

 

Location:             Iqaluit

 

Role Summary:

This mid -level field based position is responsible for the daily planning and execution of meals for clients and staff.

 

Key Responibilities Include:

  • Prepare and serve a nutritious daily camp meals (three meals, and snacks),
  • Ability to plan ahead to ensure the kitchen is stocked at all times and items are ordered
  • Implement the established menu and work with management regarding new ideas
  • Plan for and prepare alternative food choices if needed (i.e. gluten free, vegan, allergies)
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and keep all areas of food storage organized and clean
  • Monitor and maintain food supplies and collaborate with site-director for ordering.
  • Follow all sanitary and Health Canada guidelines regarding food preparation and food service
  • Lead, and supervise the kitchen aids; provide clear directives for prep, service, and clean up
  • Provide a safe and fun environment--work well independently as well as part of a team

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience as a cook or chef in the hotel industry, camp and/or cruise ship experience is an asset
  • Post Secondary education in the culinary field is an asset
  • Skills required:: organization, communication, decision making, customer service
  • Abilities: problem solving, coordination, analysis, working well under pressure
  • Comfortable working in a small entrepreneurial environment, where employees support one another to ensure client satisfaction
